Mr. Dickson Hooper, Associate Professor & Unit Head – Histology at Texila American University, was awarded the Golden Arrow of Achievement by H.E. David Granger, President of the Republic of Guyana on the 24th May 2019. The nomination of the award was announced on 23rd February 2019 as Guyana celebrated Republic Day the award ceremony took place on the 24th of May, 2019 as Guyana was celebrating its 53rd Independence Day.
Mr. Hooper started the journey with TAU in 2010 as a Faculty – Histology. Mr. Hooper was then appointed as Associate Professor & Unit Head – Histology in September 2018.
The Golden Arrow of Achievement is the fourth highest award in the Order of Service of Guyana. It may be awarded also to “any citizen of Guyana who has performed an outstanding and specific act of service or achievement of an exceptional nature, or is given for long and dedicated service of a consistently high standard in responsible offices, local government services, social and voluntary services, industry or trade unions, or in any other area of public service.”
On the 3rd of June, 2019 TAU family gathered to congratulate and celebrate with Mr. Dickson Hooper. Dr. Anand, Vice-Chancellor gave a brief congratulations message followed by Dr. Dheeraj, Dean COM, and other staff members.
Mr. Hooper was awarded this service award for his endless work in the education section for more than 4 decades. Mr. Hooper has a vast array of knowledge and experience in the education systems and this award only shows his drive, dedication, and passion towards the education sector and educating students in general.
Mr. Hooper addressed the gathering and expressed his gratitude for the recognition by the TAU family.
